Our driver will be picking you up in the morning from the port and drive you straight towards the top of the Etna Volcano!
Mount Etna is the tallest and active Volcano in Europe, mesuring 3330 meters, and known for its very spectacular eruptions, especially when flank and summit eruptions happen at the same time. The towns situated very close to the crater, like Zafferana and Giarre, were devastated more than once due to the lava, which also got very close to the sea level.
After enjoying some spectacular views of Sicily region from up high, you will be driven to the charming beach town of Taormina, which lies on the terrace of Monte Tauro. This place has been famous since the 19th century for its atmosphere and its great mild climate.
You will have time to explore Taormina’s main sights, like the Greek Theatre, which has been perfectly preserved through the years, and then continue your tour until you get to Palazzo Corvaja, which si famous for its Norman and Gothic architectural features.
It is almost mandatory, before you are driven back to the port, to stop and taste a “Granita Siciliana”, which is something similar to an ice slush… but, really, it cannot be described! Just taste it and you will love it!
After the visit of Taormina you will be returning to the port to board your ship
