From the Etruscans to the Romans, from Middle Age to Renaissance…this is Lucca, where we will see what is likely one the last historic centre’s left almost intact. After looking at the massive city walls & learning a bit about them, we will drive through the gates into Napoleon’s Square and Saint Michael Square.
Afterwards we will drive all along the walls where a deep ditch demoralized all the enemies that wanted to attack the city. From Saint Frediano Church to the Roman Amphitheater you may walk along the ancient Via Fillungoand then reach the Catherdral of Saint Martin and the church of Saint John.
Lucca is simply incredible, less known as many other Italian cities but definitely fascinating, with its narrow streets, churches, shops, restaurants and cafe behind every corner.
The walls of Lucca are so massive that you can even take a walk or bicycle ride on top of it! A must!
From here we will continue our tour heading to Florence, the Heart of Renaissance.
