From the port of Salerno you’ll be driven with your private vehicle along a scenic road to Pompeii.
In Pompeii you will have a 2 hours guided tour together with our professional walking guide.
Researchers believe that the town was founded in the seventh or sixth century BC by the Osci or Oscans. It came under the domination of Rome in the 4th century BC, and was conquered and became a Roman colony in 80 BC after it joined an unsuccessful rebellion against the Roman Republic. This ancient town was buried with ash and lava during the eruption of Volcano Vesuvius in the year 79 AD, and was entirely preserved until excavations began in the 18th century. You will have about two hours of time to explore this incredible archeological site on your own or together with our professional walking guide.
You will then proceed to Sorrento, beautiful and charming town on the sea, where the Greeks and the Romans found inspiration for their art and industry: here you will find a huge collection of wood works, mosaics and porcelain.
Next stop after Sorrento will be Positano: one of themost beautiful places in southern Italy with its designer boutiques, shops and seaside cafes. Positano used to be a port of the Amalfi Republic in medieval times, and prospered during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. By the mid-nineteenth century, right after the war, the small town was going through very hard times… most of the population emigrated to America. Positano was a relatively poor fishing village during the first half of the twentieth century. It began to attract large numbers of tourists in the 1950s, especially after John Steinbeck published his essay about Positano in Harper’s Bazaar in May, 1953: “Positano bites deep”, Steinbeck wrote. “It is a dream place that isn’t quite real when you are there and becomes beckoningly real after you have gone.”
You will have unlimited opportunities to stop on the way to take pictures of this incredible italian coastline.
